Obituary of Christine Becci
Christine Becci, 95, died peacefully at home, Wednesday, May 18, 2022, surrounded by her family. Born in Bound Brook, she was the daughter of Salvatore and Lucy (Forte) Papa, the oldest of three sisters. Chris was a lifelong resident of Bound Brook, a graduate of Bound Brook High School, President of the Art Club, Vice President of her Senior Class and worked for the GSA during World War II. Upon graduation, she worked as a secretary for RBH, which later became BASF Inmont and United Technologies.She was president of the PTA, active in CYO, and a Communicant of St. Joseph’s Church. Most people remember Chris as the hostess at O'Connor's Beef 'N Ale House in Watchung, the friendly face that would greet you and get you to your seat. People who know her well called her “Chrissy” or “Kee” She was very fashionable and always ahead of her time in many aspects of her life. Chris was a true Yankee fan. She attended many Yankee events, including Game 5 of the 1956 World Series, when NY Yankee Don Larsen pitched the only no hitter and perfect game in World Series History. NY wasn’t her only baseball town, as she attended the final games of both the NY Yankees World Series in NY and the Detroit Tigers World Series in Detroit, ticker tape parades and was also a fan of the Cincinnati Reds. Most importantly, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed.
Chris was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Becci, Jr. in 2021, with whom she celebrated 72 years of marriage, and her sisters, Vinnie Papa and Jean Morgan.. She is survived by her loving daughters Jeanne Newell (Dwight) and Carol Becci -Youngs (Ed); her grandsons Brooks (Lynne Matias), Kyle (Devon Lewis) Shane (Jessica Catera) and Reese (Isabela Faria) and eight great-grandchildren Mason, Capriana, Essex, Braxton, Carter, Siena, Colton, and Emma.
Gathering with the family will be 9:00 – 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Ave., Bound Brook, followed by a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church, Bound Brook. Burial at General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ will follow.
