Anthony (Tony) D’Ovidio 4-12-1930 - 1-15-2021 Son of Alfredo and Josephine (Patullo) D’Ovidio Married 64 years to Catherine (Taglialatella) Tony attended Bound Brook schools, graduating from Bound Brook High School in 1949. He continued his education, graduating from Emporia State University Teachers College, Emporia, Kansas, where he earned bachelor and masters degrees in education. He entered the military, serving in the Army Signal Corp from 1954-1956. Tony was an educator in Somerset County for 31 years. He taught in Bernardsville and Green Brook where he went on to become a vice principal, principal and superintendent. He later served as superintendent of Watchung Borough Schools. In 1980 he joined the staff at Somerset County Vocational and Technical Schools, first as assistant superintendent of the technical school and then as superintendent of the institute and high school. Tony is predeceased by his parents, Alfredo and Josephine, and his brother Vincent. He is survived by his sisters, Tillie Lore of Bound Brook, Theresa Penrose of Point Pleasant, Carmella Bradley of Middlesex, and his brother-in-law Dom (Sally) Taglialatella of Florida. Tony was a devoted father to Jean (Dan) Mumm, Rachel (Frank) Corradi, Jim (Christine), Robert (Michelle), Thomas (Maryann), and Michael (Sarah). His 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. Tony was a man of faith. He was a former member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Dunellen and is currently a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Millstone. Due to COVID restrictions, visitation will be private. All are welcome to attend a mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 34 Yorktown Road, Hillsborough (Millstone), New Jersey on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Tony’s memory to Princeton Child Development Institute (PCDI), 300 Cold Soil Road, Princeton, New Jersey 08540.
