Obituary of Patricia Costain
Patricia Costain, 93, died Monday, February 25, 2019 at Rehab at River’s Edge, Raritan, New Jersey. Born in Timmins, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of Walter and Cora (Viner) Nelson.
Patricia immigrated to the United States in 1954 with her husband George and two sons. George passed away in 1981. The family moved to Bound Brook in 1955 where she became an active member of the Presbyterian Church where she was a Deacon and taught Sunday School. Pat was a member of the Bound Brook Literary Club for over fifty years, P.E.O. International (Philanthropic Educational Organization) and The Presbyterian Women. She was a long-time employee of Ruberoid/GAF in South Bound Brook where she was an executive secretary. She retired in 1989. Patricia was a prolific poet/writer and enjoyed performing dramatic readings with her friends in the Literary Club. She cherished her family and loved hearing about the accomplishments and exploits of her many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
Patricia was predeceased by sisters Lilian Price, Margaret MacDonald, Molly Johnston and Bridget Pretula, brothers Tom Nelson and Victor “Buster” Nelson. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons David Costain (Martha) of Bridgewater and Dennis Costain (partner Arlene Little) of Bound Brook, by her grandchildren Amy Weltner (Christopher) of Millstone, Crystal Garcia (Rodrigo) of Bethlehem PA, Karen D’Aloisio (David) of Bridgewater, Kimberly Costain of Raritan, Allison Costain (partner Jay Vetter) of Bound Brook and Dennis Costain of Bethlehem PA. She was the beloved great-grandmother of Jasmine, Briana, Triniti, Jadis, Craig, Vincent, Paige, Britton and Benzel. She is survived by her brother Robert “Sonny” Nelson (Marlene) of Peterborough ONT and by numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday March 5, 2019 at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at the Bound Brook Presbyterian Church, 409 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook. Burial will follow at the Bound Brook Cemetery.
