Obituary of Gene Giardino
Gene J. Giardino, 89, died Tuesday, September 18, 2018. Born in Queens, NY, he was the son of John and Carmella (Stanzione) Giardino. Gene lived in Bound Brook from 1959 to 2007, before moving to Florida in 2008. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1950 - 1952 as a Sergeant in the Military Police 709th Battalion, stationed in Germany. A graduate of Dunellen High School, he also studied at Rutgers Extension School. From 1947 to 1950, Gene was employed by Permaseal in Middlesex. Along with his father and Gene's cousin, John Donofrio, he later co-founded Permaseal Manufacturing Corporation. In 1975, he became sole owner and president of the company up until his retirement in 2007. Gene was a member of the Aluminum Manufacturer’s Association, an Ambassador of SS. Cyril & Methodias Seminary of St. Mary’s Preparatory School in Orchard Lake Michigan, and a communicant of St. Mary of Czestochowa Church in Bound Brook.
Gene was predeceased by his beloved wife, Celia in 2017, his dear daughter, Paula Williams in 2012, and his sister, Catherine Giardino in 1996. He is survived by his son, Eugene of Middlesex, daughters, Barbara Martin of Point Pleasant and Anne McCormick of Milford, ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild, his sister, Frances Maurer of Dunellen and brother, John Giardino of Buffalo, NY, three nieces and five nephews.
Gathering with the family will be 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 PM, Sunday, September 23, 2018, at the funeral home. Services will begin 8:30 AM, Monday, September 24, 2018, at the funeral home followed by a 9:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of Czestochowa Church.
