Obituary of James Schofield
James J. Schofield,87, died Saturday, May 5, 2018 at RWJ University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Somerville he was the son of George B. and Mae (Farmer) Schofield. He was a life long resident of Bound Brook. He worked as a professional truck driver for over 68 years for Quality Carriers in Rahway before his retirement several years ago. He was a deeply involved communicant of St. Joseph Church in Bound Brook since going to grammar school at St. Joseph’s. He was a Eucharistic Minister and a counter after Sunday masses. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War with the 10th Field Artillery 3rd Division. He remained close to the men with whom he served, going to reunions for many years. He also returned to Korea with his friends.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret (Kolibas) “ His Queen” in 2012 and a brother Robert Schofield. Surviving are his children Kathleen ( John ) Yacone of Somerset, Michael Schofield of Manasquan, and James ( Beth ) Schofield of Barnegat, his beloved Grandchildren Alissa Schofield, Ryan Schofield, Kaitlin Patullo and her fiancé Craig Bauer, Stephanie ( Chris ) Schofield Getman, and Matthew Schofield, his great granddaughters Gabriella and Madalynne and his brother George ( Pat ) Schofield of Martinsville.
Funeral services will begin 9:00 am Friday, May 11, 2018 at Hagan - Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook followed by a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church, Bound Brook. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 pm at the funeral home.
