Elsie Chigi, 100, died Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at home with her family by her side. Born in South Bound Brook, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Hawkins) Webster. She lived in South Bound Brook before moving to Somerset in 2000. She worked for Squibb in New Brunswick during WW II, then for Texize in Piscataway for many years and then for Stern’s Department Store in Bridgewater. Elsie was a member of The Reformed Church in South Bound Brook, the South Bound Brook Senior Citizens Club and the Somerset Seniors. She was an avid bowler playing in local leagues in the area and loved to travel. Elsie was predeceased by her husband George Chigi, Jr. in 2000, by her siblings, (her twin brother) Samual Webster, James Webster, Hugh Webster, Frank Webster, June Mignella, Mary Jane Frech, Ida Conklin, Margaret Crouch, George Webster and John Webster. She is survived by her children, George Chigi, III of Chipley, FL, Lawrence J. Chigi of Allentown, PA, Hugh Chigi of South Bound Brook, Scott J. Chigi of Somerset, Robert F. Chigi of Flemington and Margaret A. Chigi of Indialantic, FL, her sister, Emma Donnelly of Kearny, her brother, Fred Webster of Alsip, IL, 8 grandchildren and 4 greatgrandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, August 15, 2021 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm at Hagan - Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook, followed by funeral services at 4:00 pm. Cremation will be private. Memorial donations may be made to The Reformed Church of South Bound Brook.
