Won Young Koh, M.D., 92, died on Friday, November 21, 2014, at Somerset Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Seoul, Korea, he was the son of Myong Woo Koh, M.D. and Mrs. Sarah Kim Koh. He received his M.D. from Severance Medical College, Seoul and his PhD in Microbiology from the University of Pennsylvania. After completing his residency at St. Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick, he went on to be a primary care physician for more than 30 years in Bound Brook and during that time was a member of the medical staff at Somerset Medical Center. He became one of the region's first board certified family practitioners. Dr. Koh was predeceased by his wife, Taiwon Kim Koh; son, James K. Koh, M.D. and sisters, Gladys Koh, Whang Kyung Koh, and Nan Kyung Koh, M.D. He is survived by his daughter, Stella I. Koh of Bound Brook; his son, David K. Koh, M.D. of Marblehead, MA; his grandchildren, Ryan, Laurie, and Michelle; and several great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend the memorial service which will begin 12:00 Noon, Monday, December 1, 2014, at the Presbyterian Church, Bound Brook. Interment of ashes will follow at Bound Brook Cemetery.
