Weniamin Nesenjuk, 97, died Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born October 26, 1917, in the former village of Hayliv, near Kiev, Ukraine, he was the son of Myron Romanovych and Mariana Bovchyk Nesenjuk. He escaped the communist regime during World War II, making his way to the United States in 1949. He settled in New York city, moving to Somerset in 1960. Mr. Nesenjuk worked as a carpenter for the United Brotherhood of Carpenter, Local 1006, Edison, for thirty-five years, retiring in 1983. His carpentry skills enabled him to build his house for his family. He was an accomplished gardener and an avid dominoes player. He was a longtime and faithful member of St. Andrew Memorial Ukrainian Orthodox Church, South Bound Brook, where he was active in the St Andrew’s Ukrainian Brotherhood and served as its President during the 1960s. Mr. Nesenjuk was predeceased by his wife, Katryn Sheluchin Nesenjuk, who died in 2011. He is survived by his sons, Valentyn Nesenjuk of Hurst, Texas, Alexander Nesenjuk of Metuchen; his grandchildren, Sarah and Benjamin, and his beloved great-granddaughter, Helena. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 3, at St. Andrew Memorial Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Interment will be at St. Andrew’s Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. Sunday, with a Panahida service at 7:00 P.M.
