Wasil Doroshenko, 89, died Fri., Oct. 4, 2013, at home. Born Mar. 3, 1924, in Ukraine, he was the son of Michael and Tatiana Doroshenko. He came to the US in 1950, settling in Carteret, moving to Somerset in 1967. Mr. Doroshenko retired as a draftsman for Schering Plough Corp., Kenilworth, in 1989, after 30 years of service to the company. He was a founder of ODUM (The Association of American Youth of Ukrainian Descent), Ellenville, NY. He was a member of St. Andrewâs Ukrainian Orthodox Memorial Church, South Bound Brook, where he was a member of St. Andrewâs Brotherhood. Mr. Doroshenko is survived by his son, John (Kathi) Doroshenko of Hillsborough; his daughter, Nina (Alex) Iwaszczenko of Barnegat, and his beloved grandchildren, Andy and Peter Doroshenko, and Danny, Paul, and Larissa Iwaszczenko. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wed., Oct. 9, at St. Andrewâs Ukrainian Orthodox Memorial Church. Interment will be at St. Andrewâs Cemetery, on the church grounds. Friends will be received at Hagan - Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook, 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. Tues., with a Panachida service at 7:00 P.M.
