Victor Richard Wikander, 54, died suddenly on Thursday, September 18, 2014, at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy. Born in Plainfield, Vic grew up in Middlesex, lived in Westfield before moving to Belle Meade ten years ago with his beloved wife, Hope. He was employed by Verizon Corporation in Branchburg. Victor was predeceased by his father, Richard S. Wikander, his uncle, John Flynn, his aunt, Mary Flynn, and his infant sister, Mary Delores. He is survived by his loving wife, Hope Lazarescu Wikander, and was her devoted caregiver through her battle with scleroderma; his mother, whom he honored his entire life, Patricia Flynn Wikander of Bound Brook; his beautiful sons, Victor E. Wikander of North Plainfield, Michael W. Wikander and their mother Eloise Ten Eyck-Wikander, both of South River. Victor was the oldest and only brother of five surviving sisters, who loved him dearly: Lynn (Benjamin) Perone of Middlesex, Catherine (Julio) Muniz of Bound Brook, Jennifer (Robert) Wyllie of Bridgewater, Stacy McSorley-Padilla of Middlesex and Amy (Wallace) Murillo of Warren. He is also survived by his aunt, Catherine Flynn of Maryland, and many nieces and nephews who adored him. Vic treasured his sons and rooted Michael on at football games, loved working on cars and teaching Vic auto mechanics, and spent many days fishing at Spruce Run with the boys. Funeral services will begin 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 23, from Hagan - Chamberlain Funeral Home, followed by an 11:00 A.M. Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, Bound Brook. Visiting will be Monday, September 22, from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Cremation will be private. Memorial donations may be made to The American Heart Association or The American Scleroderma Association.
