Valentina Nahorny, 87, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, June 22, 2016, peacefully at home. Born April 25, 1929, in Korostyshiv, Ukraine, she was the daughter of Wasyl and Anna (Tsyzman) Buraczok. She came to the United States from Germany in 1952, residing briefly in Colorado, eventually settling in New Jersey. Most recently she lived with her daughter in Randolph, New Jersey. Valentina was primarily a homemaker, dedicated to her husband and raising her family. She was an active member of ODUM (Ukrainian Organization), the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and was a Ukrainian school teacher. She loved her Ukrainian culture and heritage, flowers, gardening and animals. Valentina was predeceased by her loving husband of over fifty years, George Nahorny, who passed away in 2003. She is survived by her daughters, Olga (Nick) Brozyna of Bridgewater, Victoria Chomut of Berkeley Heights, Irene (Neil) Potter of Randolph, Katherine (Danylo) Savyckyj of Randolph; her brother, Nick Seleny of North Port, Florida; her sisters, Zinaida Kosonocky of Skillman, Maria Danylchuk of Peapack; nine grandchildren, and her two beloved great-granddaughters. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 28, at St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Memorial Chapel, South Bound Brook. Interment will be at St. Andrew’s Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. Monday, with a Panachyda service at 7:00.
