Thomas Allen O’Gurkis, 79, died Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Millennium Memory Care in Monroe. Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, he was the son of the late Peter and Stella Ogurkis. Tom grew up in Manville, and was a graduate of Dunellen High School, class of 1957. Tom was a police officer for the South Bound Brook and Piscataway Police Departments before retiring in 1997. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Tom cherished time with his family. He loved fishing with his son, going on cruises with his wife, bowling with his brother, and cheering his grandsons on at Little League games, Boy Scout events and school music concerts. In addition to his parents, Tom was predeceased by his beloved wife, Estella in 2006, his brothers, Peter and Joseph, and his sister Joan Hando. He is survived by his daughter, Tracy Stys and her husband, Ken, his son, Thomas O’Gurkis, his grandsons, James Leo and Kevin Thomas Stys, his sisters, Theresa Hill, Delores Gromkoski, Alice Tocheny, Mary Ogurkis and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, December 15, 2018, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Bound Brook. Burial at Bound Brook Cemetery will follow. Gathering with the family will be 4:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, December 14th at the funeral home. Memorial donations in Tom’s name may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 214 Church St, Bound Brook, NJ 08805
