Growing up in Toledo, Ohio, after high school he joined the US Army and served from 1963-1969, as an E-4 Specialist. Serving in the Armed Forces was a very important time in his life as he loved his country and was proud to serve. Upon his discharge, he pursued a career in carpentry attending Trade School. Hoop loved deeply and without judgment. He was very compassionate and an all-around amazing human being. He used to say “I love everybody and I want everybody to be happy”. His family and friends were his life, building cherished memories. He loved fishing, camping, sporting events, especially the Dallas Cowboys, landscaping, music and concerts, the Jersey shore, and of course his Coors Light.
