Teresa Romano, 87, died peacefully on June 23, 2021, at New York Presbyterian Hospital. with her loving daughter and grandchildren by her side. Born in Boiano, Italy she was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Palma (Colalillo) D’Ovidio. Teresa was one of 10 children. She met her husband, Anthony in Italy and together they emigrated to the United States in the 1950’s. They settled in Bound Brook and raised their family. Teresa loved to cook, sew, knit, garden and tend her fig tree. She lead by a strong example of “Family First Always” which will be forever stamped in her loved ones hearts. Cooking meals for her family, or whomever happened to stop by whether they were hungry or not was what Teresa loved doing most. Whether she was baking bread or biscotti, cooking zucchini and eggs, homemade pasta or making sauce, Teresa did it with passion, purpose and love. No one ever left her kitchen hungry. In the last year, she especially enjoyed passing down and cooking the families favorite recipes with her grandson James. Her love for her children and grandchildren was endless and she will be truly missed. Teresa was predeceased by her husband Anthony in 1998, her son Ronnie, in 1980, and six siblings who lived in Italy. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Cristina Romano – Burke; her loving grandchildren Danielle, Justin and James Burke; her sisters Cristina, Adrianna, Matilda, Rita and brother, Albino; Many nieces and nephews in Italy, and her nephew Dr. Frank D’Ovidio who the family wishes to thank for stepping in taking the lead in Teresa’s medical care. Gathering with the family will be 9:30 to 11:00 AM, Monday, June 28, 2021, at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Ave., Bound Brook, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Noon on Monday at St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, Bound Brook. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway, NJ Memorial donations may be made to New York Presbyterian Hospital, www.nyp.org/brooklyn/giving/donate
