Royal F. Mergelsberg, 82, died Saturday, September 27, 2014, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, Pennsylvania. Born in Orange, he lived in Hillsborough for over forty years before moving to Luther Crest Retirement Community, Allentown, in 2006. He worked for Delco Battery in North Brunswick for over thirty years before retiring in 1985. He was a Korean War Army Veteran and was a lifetime member of the Hillsborough Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of The Pillar of Fire Church, Zarephath. Mr. Mergelsberg was predeceased by his wife, Doris Hellyer Mergelsberg, in 2005, and his sisters, Doris Hansen in 1963, and June Johnson in 1964. He is survived by three sons, Doug Dale of Manville, Perry Mergelsberg of Antioch, California, Frank Mergelsberg of Phillipsburg; two daughters, Cindy Mergelsberg of Fogelsville, Pennsylvania, Jean Rupert of Lewisburg, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren, Perry II, Steven, Tyrone, Stacey, Matthew, Jeffery, and Lisa, and four great-grandchildren, Keira, Halle-Ann, Alexander, and Abbey. Visiting will be 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 1, followed by funeral services at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Neshanic Cemetery, Neshanic.
