Rosemary Wolk

November 17, 1934 — July 15, 2022

Rosemary “Rose” Wolk, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2022, at Bridgeway Care Facility at Hillsborough with her loving husband by her side. Born in Freeland PA, Rosemary was the daughter of the late William and Helen (Zawelensky) Swankosky. She was a graduate of Freeland High School and went on to receive her degree in nursing from Middlesex General Hospital School of Nursing in 1956 Rosemary met her soul mate, Albert, in Pennsylvania and they married in April 1955. The couple left Pennsylvania to raise their family in New Brunswick NJ. Rosemary worked as the head nurse of the postpartum unit at St. Peter’s University Hospital New Brunswick where her kind smile and motherly nature were put to good use comforting and caring for others. She also was an instructor at St Peter’s for the Lamaze and baby care classes for many years where she enjoyed teaching hundreds of new expecting parents. In 1992, Rose & Al relocated to Blandon Pennsylvania (or God’s country as she like to call it) and she became a volunteer at Willow Creek and Fleetwood Elementary Schools where she continued to do what she loved most, helping people and becoming instant friends with everyone she met. If she spoke to someone in a store or walking down the street they could not walk away without her getting a brief history of their life.

Rose was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting, but perhaps her most favorite way to spend her time was with her 9 grandchildren. Whether it be cooking homemade perogies, having them spend the weekend or FaceTiming, she loved making memories with them. Rose and Al vacationed regularly to Captiva Island, Florida where she loved to collect the unique shells that can be found there, it was her happy place.

Rosemary is survived by her beloved husband, Albert, of 67 years; her five children Jim and Amy Wolk (Virginia Beach Va ) ; William Wolk (Port Murray NJ); Nancy and Gerry Gribbon(Freehold NJ); Judy Wolk (Bedminster NJ); Mary Jane and Ernest Pirone(Lawrenceville NJ); nine grandchildren Jenny(Robert) Walker, Bryan(Amy) Wolk, Lauren(Sean) Dunigan, Jessica and Patrick Gribbon, Raymond and Christopher Tomo, Emily and Michael Pirone; six great-grandchildren, Stone and Elliott (Ellie) Walker, Delaney and Hudson Wolk, Mackenzie and Ryan Dunigan; her sister Joanne Wolk, brother Ron Swankosky and extended family Nick and Donna Azmo and Pamela Shaffer Fry. She is predeceased by her brothers William and David Swankosky.
