Robert Wendt, 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Bound Brook. Born in Somerville, he was the son of George and Lillian Wendt. Robert grew up in the Bradley Gardens section of Bridgewater before settling in Bound Brook over 60 years ago with his beloved wife, Connie, to raise their family. A graduate of Somerville High School, Robert was a member of the National Guard. He also proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a sharpshooter and a member of the 82nd Airborne Division and 101st Airborne Division/Screaming Eagles. He was stationed in Germany, where he served alongside Elvis Presley. He worked as an automotive machinist at Thul Auto Supply for over 50 years and was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. Robert was also an avid bowler, participating in three leagues every week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, whose strength and steady presence meant the world to those who knew him.

Robert was predeceased by his son Bobby in 2012. He is survived by his loving wife, Connie; his daughter Joanna Todd and her husband, Kevin; his granddaughter Samantha Ryan and her husband, Zach; grandson Ian R. Todd; and his brother Leroy Wendt.

Gathering will be 9:45 AM, Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM, Wednesday at St. Joseph Church.  Burial at Bound Brook Cemetery will follow.
