Robert “Scooter” Resuta, 78, died Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset, Somerville. Born in Hazelton, PA, he was the son of Peter and Ann (Yanachko) Resuta. He served as a Sergeant in the US Marine Corps from 1953 - 1961, receiving the National Defense Service and Good Conduct medals. He graduated Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science Degree, and worked as a purchasing agent with Johns Manville, retiring in 1989 as a member and Past President of their Quarter Century Club. He worked at PNC Bank, Bridgewater for an additional 10 years., and was the “honorary” 4:00 O’clock shift manager at Applebee’s Restaurant, Bridgewater. Mr. Resuta moved to Bound Brook in 1963 and was very active in town, especially the Fire Department. He was a member of the America Hose & Engine Co. No. 2, serving as President for 30 years and Treasurer for 4. He was the Treasurer of the Bound Brook Fire Department 100th Anniversary Commission, an Honorary Member of the Bound Brook Fire Department Chiefs Association, a Life Member of the NJ State Firemen’s Association, the Exempt Firemen’s Association, and was President of the Bound Brook Firemen’s Relief Association for 17 years. He was a life member of the Bound Brook Lodge No. 1388, B.P.O. Elks, serving as a trustee for 9 years and Chairman for 3. He was a member of Freeland Community Post No. 5010, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Freeland, PA, and was a life member of Post No. 473, American Legion Mr. Resuta was predeceased by his wife, Carol Giamella Resuta, who died in 2005. He is survived by his sons, Robert, and wife, Mary Ann Resuta of Bridgewater, Richard Resuta of Newark, DE; his loving companion, Patrice Greaney; his brothers, Francis, and wife, Florence Resuta of Mt. Pocono, PA, Gene Resuta of Freeland, PA; and his beloved grandchildren, Emily and Sean. Funeral services will begin 9:15 A.M., Thursday, August, 21, at the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church. Burial will be at Bound Brook Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 P.M.
