Robert Oestreicher

Robert G. Oestreicher, 82, died Thursday, March 1, 2018, at home. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he lived most of his life in Somerset before moving to Piscataway six years ago. He was employed as a driver for Express Delivery in Manville before his retirement. He loved the Lord dearly. He was a former Deacon and Lay Pastor, and taught Bible Studies to the youth in many Baptist churches in the area. He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-one years, Mary Mills Oestreicher; his children, Joy (Sam) Osterhoudt of Hamilton, Paul, (Connie) Oestreicher, Sr., of Bellville (Paul, Sr. was pre-deceased by his first wife Peggy in 2005), Mark (Sharon) Oestreicher of Clinton, Tennessee, Cindy (Don) Dutton of Piscataway, and James (Beth) Oestreicher of Piscataway; his grandchildren, Rachel, Melissa, April (Dave) Spencer, Christy (Tim) Holter, Paul, Jr. (L.J.), Jeremy (Grace), Joanna (Steffen) Pharai, Alicia, Nathan, Matthew, Jillian, Holly, Jason (Rebekah), Donald (Kim), Kelly Rivera (Scott Macintosh), George (Karen), Brian, Brenda, Sam, Adam, and Brandi; his sister, Grace Hamilton of Huntington, New York, and her sons David and Dan; his brother, Richard Oestreicher of Brentwood, New York, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Visiting with the family will be on Monday, March 5, 2018, from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M., and Tuesday, March 6, from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M., at funeral home. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, at the funeral home. Cremation will be private. Donations may be made to the Little Country Church, 873 Canby Road, Redding, California. 96003. The donation is for the Peniel Learning Center in Tiberius, Israel. Robert G. Oestreicher ("Bob," "Mr. O") Born December 12, 1935, at rest March 1, 2018　 Bob was born in Brooklyn, New York, on December 13, 1935, to George and Grace Oestreicher. His early years were spent in Brooklyn and Deer Park, New York. He graduated from Babylon High School at the age of sixteen, and went off to college in Dubuque, Iowa, where he accepted the Lord as his Savior at the age of seventeen. This event changed the course of his life forever, as he dedicated his life and family to the Lord who saved him. He later transferred to Trinity College in Chicago, where he met the "love of his life," Mary Mills. Bob and Mary were married on June 9, 1956, and were happily married for sixty-one years.They settled in Long Island, New York, and started raising their family of five children. During this time Bob worked many different jobs, primarily as a mechanic and manager. In 1969, Bob accepted a job offer and moved his family to Somerset. They joined New Brunswick Bible Church in Somerset, where both Bob and Mary served in many capacities for several years. A few years later, being led by the Lord, Bob moved his family, along with two other families, to start Calvary Baptist Church in East Millstone. After several years, God again moved and led Bob to found Resurrection Gospel Church in Bound Brook, where he and his family served the Lord faithfully. God continued to use Bob through the years as he served in several different area churches as the Lord led him. He also hosted prayer time on Christian radio, and conducted a nursing home ministry. He loved to preach, spend time with the Lord in prayer and cherished the Bible. He also used his mechanical talents for the Lord in the Bus Ministry, bringing people to church who had no other transportation. He served as a Deacon, Chairman of the Deacon Board, teacher, Junior Church Director, Bus Director, and in many other capacities. Two of his passions were missions and reaching the people of Israel with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is impossible to count the number of lives the he has impacted for Christ throughout his life.
