Robert Hendricks

November 29, 1960 — March 5, 2025

Robert E. Hendricks, 64, died peacefully on March 5, 2025 at Robert Wood Johnson University hospital surrounded by his wife and three children.

Born in Somerville to Robert and Patricia Hendricks (nee Hoch), Robert (Bob) grew up in Bound Brook, New Jersey and attended St. Joseph High School in Metuchen. After graduating high school, he went on to earn his undergraduate and Master’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison. Following graduation, Bob began working for STS Tire in Bridgewater where he met his wife of 35 years, Barbara (nee Haber). They were married at Kirkpatrick Chapel in New Brunswick in September 1989. Bob and Barbara lived in Bridgwater for the duration of their marriage. Together they had three children Lauren, Megan, and Danny.

Bob began working with Mauser Packaging Solutions (formally Russell Stanley) in 1997, where he was still employed as Assistant Director – Credit and Collections.

Bob was an avid runner turned triathlete over the course of the last two decades. As a member of the TMB Racing Multisport Team, Bob covered countless miles between training and races including marathons, 50Ks, 50 milers, 100Ks, Ironmans, half Ironmans, and every distance in between. Bob was the kind of teammate that everyone wants to have-- supportive, resilient, and exuded a contagiously positive spirit. His strength and dedication were a true inspiration to everyone that knew him.

Bob was the epitome of a family man, a constant presence in the lives of his wife and children. He was a selfless person who was always smiling and treated everyone—family, friends, and strangers with absolute kindness. Throughout his life, both in childhood and adulthood, he loved spending summers with family at Lake Hopatcong, Chadwick Beach, and in Lavallette. He frequented the Dunellen Hotel, a place where he could spend time with immediate and extended family and friends. More recently, he spent all the time that he could with his adoring granddaughters.

He was a longtime parishioner of Saint Joseph’s Church, and a member of the Gallons Club for the regular blood, platelets, and plasma donations he made regularly for three decades.

Bob will always be remembered for his infectious laugh that filled every empty space of any room he was in. He will be remembered by so many— both his own children and others— as a father figure, someone who could be looked to for unconditional love and advice. He will be remembered as someone who had the ability to make everyone feel welcomed and comfortable. Bob’s kindness and loyalty was unmatched and he will be immensely missed by his wife, children, granddaughters, mother, brothers, and so many others.

Bob is predeceased by his father, Robert.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; his loving children: daughter Lauren Caulfield and husband Robby, daughter Megan Pirone and husband Angelo, and son Danny Hendricks and fiancé, Lisa; adored grandchildren, Claire and Addie; his mother, Patricia; brothers, Tom (Bonnie), Rich, and Doug (Sue); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends.
