Mr. Robert E. Newhall, 87, of Homosassa, Florida, departed this life to be with Jesus on Thursday, October 31, 2024. Bob was born on November, 24, 1936, and grew up in Possumtown, a small New Jersey town. He met his beautiful wife Roberta in Bound Brook, and they enjoyed life together for over 60 years. Bob was a loving husband and a father of their three children, Barbara, Bob, and Bill. He and his family enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, fishing, and celebrated holidays and birthdays with extended family during many gatherings.
Bob’s dedication to service in the community was evident throughout his life. He served in the National Guard for 2 years. He was a volunteer of the Bound Brook Fire Department (Company No. 2) for over 50 years. In 1971, as Fire Chief of the BBFD Company No. 2, he coordinated the rescue and firefighting events during the Doria hurricane. He was a member of the Bound Brook Elks Club, and he also served with the Bridgewater Special Police. Professionally, Bob was employed as a network engineer at New Jersey Bell (now Verizon) for over 30 years.
After retiring, Bob and Robbie set off on an exciting six-year adventure. They sold their house and set out full-time on the road in their new motorhome. They traveled to all points in the United States, including Alaska, and crossed over into Mexico and Canada. While traveling around the country they found their “forever home” in Homosassa, Florida. They enjoyed many happy years in retirement with special friends, especially Nick and Ann Schultz.
Bob and Robbie attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bound Brook while in New Jersey and then St. Scholastica in Homosassa, Florida.
Bob is predeceased by his beloved wife, Robbie, and he is survived by his children and their spouses, Robert Newhall II and Jodie Lee; William and Ileana Newhall; and Barbara Ruebush and her partner Paul W. Barbiche II. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Allen; his brother George Newhall and wife Connie; and his special friend, Ann Shultz. His brother Richard Newhall passed away in 2024.
May Dad rest in peace and enjoy eternal life with Jesus and those who have gone before him.
