Richard F. Mignella, 84, died Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Hackensack Medical Center. Born in Bound Brook, he was the son of Antonio and Ida (Iannetta) Mignella. A 1955 graduate of Bound Brook High School, he joined the Army, serving from 1958 to 1960. Richard went on to become a police officer in South Bound Brook, when he was recalled to the Army and served from 1961 to 1962. He returned to SBBPD and continued his career working his way up to Chief of Police, before retiring in 1990. Richard loved the Yankees, NASCAR, going to Atlantic City, and playing baseball. He was a member of the American Legion Giles-Biondi Post No. 63 and the Somerset County Chiefs of Police Association. Richard was predeceased by his wife, Linda (Blackwell); his loving companion, Felicia Cinelli; brothers Thomas and Anthony. He is survived by his sister Carmella Swain, Michael Cinelli, sister in law Evelyn; nieces and nephews Joseph (Nancy) Swain, Anthony (Kathy) Mignella; Carol (Howard) Lehman; Robert (Dee) Swain; John (Cynthia) Mignella; Thomas (Rhonda) Mignella; Lisa (Bill) Shafer; great nieces and nephews Sean, Ashley (Steve), Russell, Stephanie (Steve), Anthony, Danielle, Gregory, Savannah, and Carly; and dear friend Cathy Hoats. Gathering with the family will be 4:00 to 6:00 PM, Sunday, June 6, 2021, at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Ave., Bound Brook. The Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Bound Brook Cemetery.
