Richard E. Galek, 79, peacefully passed away on October 11, 2024 surrounded by his wife and loving family. Richard is predeceased by his mother Pearl, his father Seymour, his brother Robert and his sister Susan.

He was born and lived in the Bronx and after graduating DeWitt-Clinton High School Rich proudly joined the United States Marine Corps. During his time in the military, he was field radio operator, and finished out his career as an MP.

Upon leaving the military he became co-owner, along with his uncle Maxwell Spyer, of Sewcraft Inc. In the beginning they repaired industrial sewing machines and all equipment used in the manufacturing of lady's garments. When production of garments moved overseas Rich reinvented himself and became a material handler providing and installing warehouse equipment to handle product returning from overseas. He loved that this position allowed him to travel to different parts of the world.

Rich married the love of his life, Barbara, on July 4, 1986. They loved spending time with family and friends. It did not matter what they were doing as long as everyone was together, eating, and playing music. He loved taking everyone out to dinner, especially to his favorite Chinese restaurant.

When his two eldest granddaughters were going to be a Bat Mitzvah Rich joined Congregation Knesseth Israel in Bound Brook. As was his personality Rich became very involved in synagogue life first being accepted on the Board of Trustees then elected to the Executive Board and eventually elected to President.
