Phyllis Rene Kopf, 87, died Saturday, October 29, 2016, at home. Born June 16, 1929, in the Bronx, New York, she was the daughter of Abe and Selma Matler. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Brooklyn County College, and her Master’s Degree from Hunter College. She was a social worker for the Bound Brook public school system for twenty-eight years, retiring in 1990. Phyllis was a volunteer at the People Care Center, Bridgewater, and the Somerset County Library. During World War II she was a member of the Women’s Land Army of America. She enjoyed knitting, tennis, bridge, and crossword puzzles. She was a member of Congregation Knesseth Israel, Bound Brook. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband of sixty-four years, Leonard Kopf, who died in 2014. She is survived by her sons, Daniel (Mary) Kopf of Bridgewater, Jeremy (Rose) Kopf of Green Brook; her beloved grandsons, Billy and Matt Kopf, and five German shepherds.
