Phillip Gauthier

November 24, 1930 — September 6, 2022

Phillip Gauthier, 91, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2022, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-Somerset with his wife by his side. Born in New York, New York, he was the son of Romeo and Annie “Betty” (Joseph) Gauthier.




Phillip worked for the Better Business Bureau for many years, and Enterprise Rent a Car in Bridgewater before retiring in 1992. Phillip had a colorful work history which included working in the circus, as a horse jockey, a photographer and even owned a food truck. He enjoyed woodworking, classic cars, drinking J & B with friends at Cahoots, and dancing with his wife, Connie.




Phillip was predeceased by his sons Marcus Payson and William Hunt and his sister Joanne Wilner. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Connie; daughter Angel Payson; son John Gauthier; four grandchildren; Angelique Nodes and her husband Ernie, Joseph Gauthier, Abigail, and Kyle Hunt; three great grandchildren; Ava, Mya, and Bella Nodes; daughter in law Michelle Scott; nephews Jerrod Wilner, Kevin, Dale, and Tim Haney; niece Erin Zmuda and many friends.




Cremation was private. A celebration of Phillip’s life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in Phillip's name may be made to your local animal shelter. Arrangements were in the care of Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook, NJ 08805.
