Peggy Ann Vitale

Peggy Vitale passed away on July 31, 2023 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. She had been a resident of Warren Township, NJ from 1974 until 1999, and a resident of Middlesex Township, NJ since 1999.

Born Peggy Ann Dinan on September 22, 1947 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Ethel May (Thomas) Dinan. Raised in the Parsons section, she was a 1965 graduate of James M. Coughlin High School. After graduating, Peggy embarked on a 45-year career in nursing. In 1967 she relocated to New Jersey and in 1973 she obtained her nursing degree from Middlesex County College and became a registered nurse, the first member of her family to obtain a college degree. She worked at JFK Medical Center in Edison, Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, and she finished her career working in OB/GYN and cardiology practices in Westfield and Springfield.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was predeceased by her stepmother, Margaret (MacCarroll) Dinan of Parsons, Wilkes-Barre (whom she missed dearly) as well as her brother, James P. Dinan, of South Amboy.

She is survived by her sons, Douglas of Howell, NJ, and Philip of Middlesex, NJ, her daughter-in-law Lana of Howell, her two beloved granddaughters, Caitlyn Marie and Abigail Grace of Howell, and her sister-in-law, Lorraine Dinan of South Amboy.

The family would like to acknowledge the highly competent and compassionate staff of the RWJ New Brunswick Intensive Care Unit, who provided Peggy with excellent care. Their professionalism and empathy are very much appreciated.

Gathering with family and friends will be from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, August 3rd, at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Ave., Bound Brook. Interment will take place on Friday, August 4th at 12:00 at Mount Greenwood Cemetery, Trucksville, Pennsylvania.
