Pat Ciardi

Patsy Ruth Ciardi (nee Brown), a longtime resident of Piscataway, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a short illness on April 6, 2023 at the age of 87. Patsy (Pat) was born in Pikeville, Kentucky. At the age of 5, her family moved to Dover, New Jersey, where she grew up. She graduated from Dover High School in 1953 and Katharine Gibbs Business School in 1954. She worked for American Standard Co. until she married Dominic Ciardi and moved to Chicago, Illinois. There she worked for the University of Chicago Alumni Foundation as secretary to the director. In 1959, she and her family moved to Piscataway, New Jersey.

She belonged to the River Road Cerebral Palsy Auxiliary for 26 years, and for many years volunteered her time at St. Frances Cabrini church decorating and cleaning or whatever was asked of her.

She was the proud mother of five children, and she had nine grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years, Dominic. She is survived by her children Cynthia Whittington (Larry), Kimberly Madlinger (Matt), Mark (Liat), Scott (Jacqueline), and Jeffrey (Dawn). She is also survived by her grandchildren Lindsey, Blair, Andrew, Allison, Olivia, Brooke, Hayden, Luke, and DJ; and three great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include a sister, Ruby Tome, and a brother, Homer Brown, and many nieces and nephews.

In her final years, Pat maintained a special relationship with longtime family friend Robert (Bob) Spencer. Bob provided countless hours of companionship, love, and support and for that the Ciardi family is eternally grateful.

Pat dedicated her life to her family, friends, and community, always putting the needs of others before her own. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and will be missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be 10:00 - 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 15, 2023, at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 208 Bound Brook Ave, Piscataway, NJ, 08854, with the funeral mass beginning at 11:00.  Memorial donations in Pat's name may be made to St. Frances Cabrini Church.  Cremation was private.   Arrangements are in the care of Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, Bound Brook.
