Nicholas W. Barber, Jr., 94, died, Sunday, May 25, 2014, at his home in South Bound Brook. A life long resident, Mr. Barber was the son of Nicholas Sr. and Anna (Bartoschik) Barber. He was a graduate of Bound Brook High School and Rutgers University, where he received his B.A. in Finance. He was a Chief Petty Officer in the US Coast Guard during World War II. Mr. Barber was an accountant with Ford Motor Company in Edison for many years before retiring. After retiring from Ford, he continued working as an accountant for the South Plainfield Board of Education. He was also very active within his community, serving as the South Bound Brook Board of Education Secretary and was currently serving as the Board’s Treasurer of school monies. He was instrumental in starting the South Bound Brook Little League and served as a team manager. Mr. Barber was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marjorie (Carassale) in 2008, his daughter-in-law, Barbara in 2008 and his brothers-in-law, Joseph Genova and George Korn. He is survived by his son, Nicholas R. Barber of Venice, FL., his grandchildren, Kristin (Chris) Furlong of Morris Plains, Nicholas J. (Chelsea) Barber of Brookline, MA., and Kim (Keith) Krecicki of Basking Ridge, his great-grandchildren, Katie and Kelly Krecicki, his sisters, Lucy Genova of Brick, Viola Korn of Somerset and Kathleen (John) Felix of Brick, his brothers, Robert (Lillian), and Richard (Ada) both of South Bound Brook, as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Funeral services will begin 8:15 A.M. Saturday, June 7 at the funeral home, followed by a 9:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mercy Church, South Bound Brook Visiting will be Friday, 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway.
