Nancy Shumsky Klinghoffer, 88, died peacefully at home on September 11, 2024.
Born in Hackensack, NJ to the late Harold and Viola Overbaugh (nee Coles), she graduated from Irvington High School in 1954 before attending Newark State Teacher College.
In addition to raising her family in Bound Brook, Nancy worked as a clerk for the Somerset County Clerk Office, retiring in 2000 after 33 years.
Nancy led a very active life post-retirement, participating in the Greater NY/NJ chapter of the Sweet Adelines International acapella group. She also enjoyed her time with the Bound Brook Seniors, playing in a senior bowling league at Bowlmor. She was also a prominent member in the Bound Brook Methodist Church, holding many offices and participating in all areas of ministry. Nancy especially loved sharing her passion for singing and faith as a member of the Chancel Choir and church bell choir.
Nancy is predeceased by her loving companion, Frank Bonini Sr. (2020); late husband, Robert Klinghoffer (1995) and first husband, William Shumsky Sr. (2020); and her brother Allen Overbaugh (2021).
She is survived by her beloved sons, Daniel Shumsky and wife Donna, William Shumsky; adored grandchildren, Adam and wife Danielle, Chase, Julia, and Kristina Shumsky; and great granddaughter, Apfel Shumsky.
Gathering with the family will be held on Tuesday, September 17, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook.
A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18 at the funeral home. Friends and family are welcome to gather beginning at 9:45 a.m.
Interment will follow at New Cemetery, 192 South Bridge Street in Somerville.
All arrangements are under the care and supervision of Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home.
