Monica Cortez

Monica Alexandra Cortez, 47, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York. Born in Ecuador, she arrived to the U.S. at a very young age and made a home with her family in South Bound Brook back in 2001. She worked as a registrar at St Peters University Hospital for many years. When she was not at work she was with her family enjoying special moments and making precious memories. She had a passion for knitting and crocheting in which she made a small business making clothes and accessories. She was a caring and exceedingly loving woman who always had everyone's best interest in mind. She was a beloved wife, an adored mother, an exemplary daughter and a loved sister. She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Edward Cortez, in which she had her two children with, Christine and Brandon Cortez. She is also survived by her parents, Humberto and Estela Lopez and her brothers Edgar and Davis Lopez. Visiting will be on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at Hagan - Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook, NJ 08805 from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Gathering will begin on Thursday, February 13 at 10:00 AM, at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph R. C. Church in Bound Brook, NJ 08805. Private cremation will follow.
