Michael Tomaro, 72, died Thursday, June 9, 2016, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Somerville. Born in Bound Brook, to Michael and Helen [Lenhert] Tomaro, he was a life long resident of South Bound Brook. He was a graduate of Bound Brook High School, Class of 1962. Mr. Tomaro enlisted in the United States Army, served in Vietnam, and was the recipient of two Purple Heart medals. He worked as a maintenance mechanic at American Cyanamid for over thirty years, before his retirement. He was a member of the South Bound Brook Fire Department, joining in 1966, and serving as Chief in 1976. He was a member of the Thomas J. Kavanaugh Post No.2290, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and a was a Communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, South Bound Brook. Mr. Tomaro was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Diane Giebel. He is survived by his loving wife of forty-eight years, Mary Teresa, his three sons Michael Tomaro, Matthew (Emilie)Tomaro, and Mark (Morgan)Tomaro; his five granddaughters, Morgan, Samantha, Meagan, Abigail, and Sophia; and Holly, mother of Morgan and Meagan. Funeral services will begin 8:15 A.M. Wednesday, June 15, at the funeral home, followed by a 9:00 A.M. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Friends will be received at the funeral home 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. Tuesday. Burial will be at Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway. Memorial donations may be made to the family.
