Michael E. Ballas, 68, died Friday, March 4, 2016, at home with his family by his side. Born in Plainfield, he was the son of Spiros and Agathi (Benetatos) Ballas. Mike had been a longtime resident of Bound Brook. He worked as a line operator at Reckitt Benckiser in Belle Meade for twenty-five years, before retiring in 2013. His greatest joy in life was his family, especially his grandchildren. He leaves behind his loving wife, Barbara; their beloved children, Spiro Ballas and his wife Emily, of Lovettsville, Virginia, Nick Ballas of Montgomery, and Katie Bennett and her husband Jeremy, of Bridgewater; his cherished grandchildren, Michael, Grace, and Emma Ballas, and Alexandra Bennett, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Services will begin 9:45 A.M. Wednesday, March 9, followed by a 10:30 A.M. funeral service at The Greek Orthodox Church of St. George, 1101 River Road, Piscataway 08854. Burial will be at Bound Brook Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The Ballas family is grateful for the support received from Compassionate Care Hospice in Branchburg. Their care and support was truly appreciated.
