Mary Lee Payne Nangeroni, 94, died peacefully at home in Lewisburg, Tennessee. Born in New Brunswick, NJ, she was the daughter of Helen Hirst Payne Mann and Arthur A. M. Payne III. She was a life-long resident of Bound Brook and a life-long member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, where she was baptized and married and where she served as the first woman on the vestry. Mary Lee was a graduate of Bound Brook High School, Class of 1941 and a graduate of Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia and the Columbia Presbyterian School of Nursing in New York City, where she received her BS in Nursing. Married to Lindo Paul Nangeroni in July, 1946, she was a loving and devoted wife and mother. Throughout her life she was an active Bound Brook resident, giving selflessly of her time and energy to community life. She loved the outdoors, and together with family spent time camping on Lake Cayuga, NY, and gardening at home. For all of her life, she was an avid reader and an enthusiastic Yankees fan. She loved traveling and playing golf and tennis, but her greatest joy was hosting holidays for her family. Mary Lee is survived by her sister, Anne Payne Warner (MD); four children: Martha P. Stephens (TN), Peter M. Nangeroni (PA), Lindo P. Nangeroni Jr. (Martinsville), and Maria H. Doremus (Edison); eight grandchildren: Jennifer Bess, Molly Casey, Matt Stephens, Kate Stephens, Chuck Stephens, Mary Beth Angeles, Rosalind Doremus, Molly Doremus; and twelve great- grandchildren. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11 AM, Saturday, June 16, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 214 Church Street, Bound Brook. Burial of ashes will follow at Bound Brook Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, Bound Brook. The family requests memorial donations to Doctors Without Borders or The Nature Conservancy. Donations to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church are also welcomed.
