Mary M Straub

Mary M. Straub, 92, died peacefully on March 4, 2025.

Born in Scotch Plains to the late Joseph and Mary Antonio (nee Carona), she graduated from Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School. Mary resided in Plainfield before settling in Bound Brook in the 1960s with her husband Edward to raise their family.

Mary worked as a purchaser for Green Brook Regional Center, where she dedicated 36 years of employment before her well-deserved retirement.

She was an avid member of the Bound Brook Republican Club as well as the Bound Brook Seniors. Mary was also active in St. Joseph Church in Bound Brook, where she served as a communicant. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking and shopping, especially at Merle Norman.

Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband Edward in 1989; her sister Evelyn and brother-in-law Jim Priestly; and sister Helen and brother-in-law Vincent Landis.

She is survived by her loving children, son Edward L. Straub (Deborah), son Wayne J. Straub (Robyn), and daughter Karen A. Kopecky (Peter); adored grandchildren, Stephen Straub (Jacqueline), Michael Straub (Nina), Jasmine Hemmer (Matthew), Brittany Kopecky (Rob), and Peter Kopecky Jr. (Nicole); great-grandchildren Nicolette, Brandon, and Melania; her two step grandsons, Michael and Anthony Palmieri; and many extended relatives and dear friends.

Gathering with family and friends will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2025, at St. Joseph Church, 111 E High St, Bound Brook.

Interment will follow at Bound Brook Cemetery.
