Maria Stryzak

Maria Stryzak, 94, died Wednesday, August 8, 2017 at St. Peters University Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in Stanislawv, Ukraine, she came to the United States in 1948 setteling in Newark before moving to the Ukraine Village in Somerset 22 years ago. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church in Hillsborough and the Ukranian National Women's League. She enjoyed arranging flowers and gardening. She was predeceased by her husband Andrew in 1986 and a grandchild Oksan Stryzak in 2001. She is survived by a son, Bohdan and his wife Hania of Bridgewater, a daughter, Orysia Stryzak of New York City, a Grandson Omelan and his wife Xenia of Lawrenceville, 2 sisters, Slava Wasylak of Hillsborough, Lubba Sisson of Florida and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will begin at 9:30 AM Monday, August 14, 2017 from Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook followed by Mass at 10:30 AM at St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1700 Brooks Blvd., Hillsborough. Visiting will be Sunday, August 13, 2017 at the funeral home with a Panachyda service at 7:00 PM. Burial will be at St. Andrew's Cemetery in Franklin.
