Madelyn Albert

Madelyn M. Albert, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 7, 2023. She was born in Wyoming and adopted by Henry G and Marie A Smith. Throughout her life, she grew up in Denver, Salt Lake City, and Portland. She pursued her education at Loretta Heights College and the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.

It was while living in New Mexico that she met her future husband, Michael, at Kirtland Air Force Base. Their love story unfolded quickly, meeting in December 1956 and getting married in May 1957. Following their wedding, they ventured to New Jersey for their honeymoon and decided to make it their home, eventually starting a family.

Madelyn was deeply engaged in her community of South Bound Brook. She took on the role of a Cub Scout den mother and also worked as a substitute teacher at Robert Morris School. Her involvement extended to presenting at Pre-Cana classes and teaching CCD classes at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Both she and Michael shared a passion for traveling and ballroom dancing, which enriched their lives together.

After her youngest son entered high school, Madelyn embarked on a career at John Wiley Publishing, where she worked until her retirement in 1997. Her journey was marked by her dedication to family, community, education, and her career. Her impact on those around her will surely be remembered.

Madelyn is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Michael; their sons Michael II; Christopher (Theresa) and Timothy (Jo); their grandchildren Eliana, Michael III (Deyanira), Shaun, Kathryn (Kris) and their daughter Lagertha. Also Madelyn’s half-brother Michael Banks and his wife Sue, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Henry and his wife Kathleen, half sisters Karen Banks and Patricia John

Gathering with the family will be 4:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Hagan- Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Ave., Bound Brook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Monday, August 14, 2023, at our Lady of Mercy Church, South Bound Brook. Entombment at Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway will follow.
