Leroy Copper, 71, died Thursday, October 17, 2013, at home in Bound Brook. Born July 13, 1942, in Boca Raton, FL, he was the step son of Robert Jones and his beloved mother Maggie May Backey Jones. Mr. Copper enlisted in the US Army in 1967. He was stationed in Germany, Alaska, Vietnam (2 tours), Washington, D.C., and Panama, where he met his beloved wife, Callette, moving to Bound Brook in 1987. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal for service in Vietnam. He also received the National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, and the Army Good Conduct Medal. He retired as a Staff Sergeant in 1987. Surviving are his beloved wife, Callette Archbold Copper; his children, Edward (Pauline) Jones of West Palm Beach, FL, Pamela Copper and Leroy Copper, both of Bound Brook; his grandchildren, Rebecca, Ruth, Edward Jr., and Myles; his sisters; Barbara (Louis) Harris of Long Island, Dianne Jones (partner Lillian) of the Bronx, Wanda Jones of the Bronx, Zenovia Jones (partner April) of Millville, and his brothers, Darryl Jones of the Bronx, and Douglas (Irene) Jones of Manhattan. Funeral services will be 10:00 Monday, October 21, 2013, at the Bound Brook Congregational Church, Church and High Streets, Bound Brook. Cremation will be private. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Hagan - Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Ave, Bound Brook.
