Leonard Moshinsky, 95, of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away on April 13th, 2023. May his memory be a blessing.
Leonard was born on December 14th, 1927, to his loving parents Morris and Esther Moshinsky. Leonard, the most loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather is survived by his wife of seventy years, Doris; brother, Howard (Jean); sons, William (Cara), Robert (Joann), Steven (Laura), and David (Lori); grandchildren, Joshua, Lauren (Christian), Evan, Kailee, Michael, Melissa, and Adam; great grandchild, Addison; nine step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He is also predeceased by his brother Gerald (Anne).
After graduating from Weequahic High School in Newark, New Jersey, Leonard attended and graduated from Rutgers College of Pharmacy, to which he received a full scholarship – among the first of many accomplishments owed to his hallmarks of acuity and intelligence. As principled as he was judicious, Leonard served in the Korean War as a sergeant and pharmacist. In 1957, Leonard purchased Loree’s drug store in Bound Brook, New Jersey, which would operate under his prudent supervision for forty-two years. Following this, Leonard and his devoted wife Doris lived out their well-deserved retirement, in Boynton Beach, Florida.
As a successful pharmacist and business owner, Leonard solidified his standing in his community as a hard worker and respectable neighbor, exemplified further by his service as President of Congregation Knesseth Israel for many years. Those close to him might remember him prominently for the way he could always provide the cure for a silent room, as a singularly gifted storyteller, conversationalist, and humorist. Leonard will also be remembered as a man of true integrity and diligence, who placed heartfelt value on his Jewish faith, his overall drive to acquire both knowledge and life experiences, and most of all, the well-being of his friends and upbringing of his family.
The positive impact of Leonard and his life will forever resonate in the hearts and minds of many. “Mr. Moshinsky”, “Mr. M”, “Leonard”, “Lenny”, “Dad”, “Grandpa” (more colloquially, “Gramps”) or “GGPa” was a kind and brilliant man, whose passing will be permanently felt by all he knew. His ability to provide sound reason, support, advice, love, and attention will be forever engrained in his loved ones.
