Lee Apgar Anderson, age 79, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023, at St. Luke's Hospital in Easton. Born in Somerville, Lee was the cherished son of Gilbert and Dorothy Apgar Anderson. He spent his formative years in the Finderne Section of Bridgewater, leaving an indelible mark on the communities that shaped him. Lee was a graduate of Bridgewater -Raritan West and went on to receive his bachelor’s from William Patterson.
A dedicated educator, Lee's passion for mathematics led him to a fulfilling career as a math teacher at Rutger's Prep and the Elizabeth Public School District. His commitment to fostering knowledge and shaping young minds left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to be his students. Lee's love for baseball was a defining aspect of his life. A devoted collector of baseball memorabilia, he reveled in the rich history and stories encapsulated within each piece. His enthusiasm for the sport extended beyond collecting; Lee served as the Assistant Administrator for District 17 Little League and as a little league coach, contributing his time and energy to the development of young athletes.
Family was at the heart of Lee's life, and he adored his nephews, Jonathan and Jeffrey. A constant presence at their sporting and academic events, Lee cheered them on with pride and unwavering support. His role as a brother, uncle, and friend was defined by kindness, generosity, and a genuine love for those around him
Lee is survived by his sister, Dorothy Davidson; nephews Jonathan Sterling, and his wife Carla and Jeffrey Erik and great-nephew Leonardo Douglass. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and the impact of his life's work will endure through the countless lives he touched.
Gathering with the family will begin at 9:00 AM, Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook with the funeral service beginning at 10:45 AM. Burial at New Cemetery in Somerville will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Finderne Rescue Squad, 476 Union Avenue, Bridgewater, NJ 08807 in his name.
