Kathryn Mary Spencer Hayes 12-11-1957 - 11-24-2018 Kathryn Mary (Spencer) Hayes loving daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, principal and cherished friend to so many, passed away Saturday morning November 24, 2018 surrounded by her siblings. Kathy was born on December 11,1957 in New Brunswick NJ to parents Patricia and Robert Spencer. She grew up in Piscataway with her five siblings. She was a graduate of American University and received a Masters Degree in Education at Lady of the Lake in San Antonio Texas. Kathy’s true passion was education. She taught for many years at Colonies North Elementary School in Texas before becoming Vice Principal In 2005 Kathy returned to NJ where she became the last principal of St. Francis Cabrini School in Piscataway. Interestingly enough, Kathy was a student in St. Francis Cabrini’s first graduating class in 1972. In 2009 she returned to Texas where she ultimately became principal of the Aue School in San Antonio. Kathy was a passionate educator whose greatest love was enabling children to learn and grow. She was a voracious reader from an early age and passed that along to her students. Her school library was her favorite place to be, besides coming home to Piscataway to spend holidays and vacations with her family. She doted on her nieces and nephews with whom she shared a very special bond. Kathy loved to learn and share and created many wonderful friendships at the First Baptist Church of Boerne where she participated in Sunday School. Kathy is survived by her Father, Robert Spencer of Piscataway; sisters Elizabeth Richardson and husband William, Susan Spencer Craig and husband William, Jennifer Fosburgh and husband Dana, sister-in-law Christine Spencer, and brother Michael Spencer and wife Margaret. She was pre deceased by her mother Patricia and brother Andrew. In addition, Kathy had fourteen nieces and nephews and a grand nephew who will miss her love and laughter. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Cabrini Church on Friday, November 30 at 10 AM located at 208 Bound Brook Avenue, Piscataway. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to Hunterdon Hospice, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington NJ 08822 or online at: foundation.hunterdonhealthcare.org.
