Kathryn Macking Alheim, 87, died Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital - Somerset, Somerville. Born July 6, 1928, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Peter and Jesse Watt Macking. She graduated from Elmer Meyers High School, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1946. She had resided in Middlesex for the past sixty-two years. Kathryn was a devoted homemaker, dedicated to her husband and daughters. She had been a member of the Somerset Hospital Women’s Auxiliary, and a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. Kathryn was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Bound Brook, and was active in the Presbyterian Women for many years. A talented artist, she enjoyed oil painting and quilting. Kathryn was predeceased by her brother, William Macking. She is survived by her devoted husband of sixty-two years, Dr. Robert J. Alheim, who was her best friend and high school sweetheart; her daughters, Susan (Stephen) Alheim Greco of Middlesex, Carolyn (Dwight) Caines of Los Angeles, California; her beloved grandchildren, Michelle and Julia Greco, Andrew and Sam Caines, and her loving niece, Terry Wendrychowicz and family. Kathryn cherished every moment spent with her husband and family, and took particular joy in nurturing her beautiful grandchildren, of whom she was very proud. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 9, at the Presbyterian Church, 407 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook. Cremation will be private.
