Katherine Devany Anderson

Katherine Devany Anderson, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and educator, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2024. Born in the Bronx, NY, to Joseph and Kathleen Kane, Katherine was deeply influenced by her parents' emphasis on the importance of education, a value she cherished and imparted to her children and grandchildren.
Katherine pursued her higher education at Fordham University, graduating with honors. She began her career as a teacher in the New York Public Schools before taking a hiatus to raise her children. Later, she resumed her teaching career at Woodfern Elementary in Hillsborough, NJ, where she dedicated decades to teaching first grade. During her career, she also earned a Master's degree plus 60 additional credits from Seton Hall University.
Katherine was married to George C. Anderson for 63 years until his passing in 2022. She is survived by her four children: Esther (Nick Krochta), George (Audrey), Jennifer, and Michael Anderson. She was a loving grandmother to six grandchildren: Adam, Derek, Mary Katherine, Liam, Brigitte, and Ava May, and a proud great-grandmother to five. Katherine was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Kathleen, her sister Rose ‘Marie’ O’Connor, and her daughter-in-law, Samantha.
A woman of deep faith, Katherine was an active member of Saint Joseph’s Church in Bound Brook. She taught CCD classes and served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years, touching the lives of many in her community.
Friends and family are invited to visit on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. A funeral Mass will follow on August 21, 2024, at 11a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church in Bound Brook, New Jersey. Cremation will be private.
