Joyce Kalbach

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joyce Ware Kalbach on February 12, 2023, at the age of 85 surrounded by loved ones. She will be remembered for her caring nature and unending generosity, as well as for her beautiful singing voice and life-long dedication to music education.

Born on September 17, 1937, Joyce grew up in Collingswood, NJ. She went on to study music education at Douglass College, Rutgers University. After graduating, she and her husband settled down in Bound Brook, NJ, and she became an elementary school music teacher in central New Jersey.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 63 years, Donald Kalbach, and her three children, David Kalbach (wife Jessica), Janice Hulik (husband Joseph), and Jim Kalbach (wife Nathalie). She has three grandchildren, Jacquelyn Hulik, Jason Hulik, and Carlos Kalbach, as well as a great-grandchild born on February 1, 2023, Elyse Aeryn Markus. Joyce was the beloved sister of Joan Eagle, six years to her elder, and step-brother Raymond Taylor, both deceased.

Gathering with the family will from 4:00-8:00 pm. Friday February 17, 2023, at the Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook, NJ. Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, February 18, 2023 at The Congregational Church, 209 Church Street in Bound Brook, NJ. Cremation was private.
