Joseph Calvo

Joseph “Grandpa Joe” Calvo, 93, died Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at CareOne at Bridgewater. Born in Bound Brook, he was the son of Regino and Natalia Rodrigo Calvo. Joe attended Bound Brook High School. He enlisted in the Navy, serving from 1945 to 1946. He was a Seaman First Class and a recipient of the Victory Medal. Joe worked for American Cyanamid for over 25 years, before retiring in 1989. He loved fishing, golf, and Atlantic City. He was a member of the Giles-Biondi American Legion Post No. 63 and the Bound Brook Moose Lodge 988. Joe was predeceased by his siblings Louis, Vincent, Jane, Lucy and Florence, his sisters in law, Gwen, Ulanda and Barbara, and brothers in law Bob, Rudy, Frank and George. He is survived by his daughter, Gale Luise, her husband Anthony; grandsons Justin (Kristin) Luise and Brandon (Jeryn) Luise; great grandchildren, Lilah, Keira, Tripp, and Sloan, his brother John and sister Sylvia Rubito and many nieces and nephews. Gathering will be Friday, June 4, 2021, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Hagan - Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook. Graveside services will follow at Bound Brook Cemetery.
