John Whitehead

April 13, 1925 — October 9, 2021

John "Jack" Alfred Whitehead, 96 died quietly at home on October 9, 2021. He was born in Nesquehoning Pa., and was the son of Thomas and Julia Whitehead. After graduating Nesquehoning High School, in 1942, Jack enlisted in the US Navy and served aboard the USS Finback as an electrician during WWII. He came home from the war, and married his childhood sweetheart, Bunny. They moved to Houston TX. for a short time, then settled in Lancaster, PA., Kendell Park, NJ., and Shillington, PA., until Bunny died in 1994. He worked as an industrial glass blower, until his retirement at the age of 80. He then lived on St. John's Island, SC with his daughter Jill, spending his final years with his son James in South Bound Brook, NJ. Jack loved nothing more than being with his family, whether it was hunting during deer season, attending the annual family reunion, or singing around the piano. He sang with the choir at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Kendall Park, NJ., and with the Chorus of the Princeton & Westfield Barbershop Chapters in NJ. He carried a beautiful tune until his final days. Jack was predeceased by his beloved wife Elvera "Bunny", his sons Jack Wayne and David Lee, brothers Elwood, Winfield, Edward, Thomas, and Robert and sisters Mary and Faith. He is survived by his daughter Jill Frey, and her husband Bruce; son James Whitehead, and his wife Angela; daughter Faith Peltzer, and her husband Nick; his granddaughters Lisa, Karen, and Julie; his grandson David, and great grandsons Sean, Tommy, and Jack. Arrangements were by Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, Bound Brook, NJ.
