John Lewis, 85, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 12, 2024, surrounded by family. Born in New York City, John was the son of Raymond and Ina Lewis. He graduated from Blair Academy and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Nichols College in Massachusetts. John, alongside his devoted wife Maria, dedicated 45 years helping families find their perfect homes as local real estate agents with Century 21 Van Syckle-Golden Post. Together they made a lasting impact on countless lives in the local community, where they lived for 39 years.
John generously gave of his time to various causes, including supporting local high school events, such as the Bound Brook Booster Club. He was also an avid reader and passionate sports fan who loved cheering on his favorite teams, the New York Giants and the New York Mets.
But above all else, John’s greatest loves were his wife and family. He was a dedicated father and grandfather, and never missed the opportunity to encourage and offer support to his children and grandchildren which has left an indelible mark on each of their lives.
John was predeceased by his son, Mark. He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Maria, their children Scott (Lena), Laura (John), Ezio (Joyce), Alfonso (Toni), and Rosemary (Tom); 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of love, family and dedication to his community.
Gathering with the family will be 3:30 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Ave. Bound Brook, NJ 08805. The funeral mass will begin at 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 17, 2024, at St. Joseph Church, Bound Brook. Entombment at Resurrection will follow.
