John Ambrose

John Ambrose, 88, died Friday, August 20, 2021, at CareOne at Somerset Valley in Bound Brook. One of nine children, John was the son of Anthony and Rosalie (Fidacaro) Ambrose. John graduated Bound Brook High School in 1951 and enlisted in the Army in 1953. He served until 1955 and returned to Bound Brook. He worked as a roofing inspector for GAF, retiring in 1986. After retiring, he worked part time at Adesa in Manville. He was an avid golfer and basketball player, playing basketball well into his 70’s every Monday at open gym night at BBHS, and most mornings you could find him at QuickChek, having coffee with the morning coffee club. He enjoyed travelling, was a member of the Bound Brook Seniors, Giles Biondi American Legion Post No. 63, a long-time member of the Sons of Italy and had been a communicant of St. Joseph Church. John is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Rosemarie, his son Todd, his granddaughter Lily, and his sister Rosie Wendell. Gathering with the family will be 6:00 to 9:00 PM, Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Ave. Bound Brook. The funeral mass will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at St. Joseph Church, Bound Brook. Burial will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
