John A. Scott, 94, died Friday, September 3, 2021 at Foothill Acres in Hillsborough. Born in Jersey City he was the son of James and Cornelia (Halliburton) Scott. He lived in Jersey City, moved to Bound Brook in 1963 until he moved to Asbury in 2014. In 2018 he moved to Hillsborough. He was a Professional Engineer with a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering and worked for Jacobs Engineering, Research Cottrell (Bridgewater) and RPMS (Jamesburg) before his retirement. He was a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army in WW II and a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was proud of his service to his country. He loved his family and enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sports and cultural activities. He enjoyed reading and music and was an avid New York Yankee fan. John was predeceased by his wife Mary (Lopresti) Scott in 2014. He is survived by his daughter Mary Lou (Chuck) Dahler of East Amwell, his son, John (Marci) Scott of Pattenburg, his grandchildren, Stephen (Jennelle) Dahler, Kelly Dahler, Kelsey, Jonathan and Lauren Scott, his great-grandson, Finnean Dahler and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Hagan - Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook followed by services at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Bound Brook Cemetery.
