Joanne A. Gentile,73, died Wednesday April 23, 2014, at her home in Bridgewater, NJ. Born June 15, 1940, in Edison, she was the daughter of George Sweimler and Georgine Rivers. She was a graduate of Highland Park High School, Douglass College, and Katherine Gibbs School. She had an extensive career as an Executive Secretary, Office Manager, and Administrator from 1961 to 2013, working for such companies as Johnson & Johnson; Rutgers University, Flemington Tile Supply Company, UMDNJ, and Environmental and Occupational Health Science Institute. Mrs. Gentile was a member, past President and Trustee of the Lady Elks of Bound Brook, Lodge No. 1388, She was also a member and Past Officer of the Ruth Chapter No. 12, Order of the Eastern Star. She was the Past Worthy Advisor for the International Order of the Rainbow Girls, receiving the Grand Cross of Colors for the order. Mrs. Gentile was predeceased by her daughter, Shannon Lee Gentile, in 2004. She is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Salvatore V. Gentile, her daughter, Tara L. Gentile, of Los Angeles, CA. and her mother, Georgine Rivers, of Bridgewater A memorial service will begin 10:00 AM, Friday, May 9, 2014 at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook. Cremation was private. Memorial donations may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Ste. 200, Manhattan Beach, CA. 90266 or online at www.pancan.org.
