Jean Gardner, 89, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at Regency Jewish Heritage in Somerset. Born in Somerville, Jean was the daughter of John and Helen (Grublis) Savage and was raised in Bound Brook. She was a graduate of Bound Brook High School, Class of 1950 and attended Rutgers University. She went to Barbizon Modeling and Acting School and briefly considered a career in modeling. In 1963, she married her husband, Jack. Together they settled in Piscataway and raised their son Jeremy. She worked in customer support for the family business.
Jean was an avid reader and history buff. She enjoyed operas, classical music and was a talented singer herself. She was a member of the Bound Brook Community Chorus and the Bound Brook Presbyterian Church Choir, of which she had been a member of for 60 years. She also supported her husband Jack, a member of the Hunterdon Harmonizers, Barbershop Chorus at local performances and national competitions. Jean loved to travel abroad. It was a thrill for her to be able to travel to Lithuania and visit the town where her grandparents emigrated from. She and Jack enjoyed winters in Florida where they have a close circle of friends.
Jean leaves behind her loving husband, Jack; her son Jeremy; her sister Marilyn Horvath and her husband, Zoltan.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 10, 2022, at the Bound Brook Presbyterian Church.
Cremation was private. Memorial donations in Jean’s name may be made to the Bound Brook Presbyterian Church, 409 Mountain Ave, Bound Brook NJ 08805
Arrangements are in the care of Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, Bound Brook.
